Hoots and hollers echoed in the locker room as Tulsa players saw their new space complete with 120 Shield solid surface lockers.
Tulsa’s lockers are a great example of a thoughtful look at branding. There are a lot of school logo details on their lockers. While the locker looks good, it’s also incredibly functional. Tulsa needed a locker to fit all their uses from gameday to everyday use to recruiting.
Why they picked Shield
The architect Hastings + Chiavetta previously priced another locker company for the job. Shield was able to give them competitive pricing in the bid. While we were slightly more expensive, we were able to provide them with significantly more functionality – and an unmatched lifetime warranty.
Tulsa liked that Shield was a young company doing something different. We aligned with their vision of their program. We were something new and different to provide them with a recruiting edge. Lockers were completed and delivered to Tulsa in Nov. 2017.
“I think this is true for any sport, but the locker room is kind of a sacred spot for men and women, dependent upon their sport, where they really connect,” said Tulsa head football coach Philip Montgomery. “The bond of unity and brotherhood you have within that sport happens in the locker room, it happens in the weight room and it happens on the field. The locker room is a place that student-athletes can be themselves. It’s kind of their home away from home.”
Through our comprehensive mock-up process, we were able to give Tulsa exactly what they needed, with details to help their locker stand out. There is a cell phone slot on the door of the lockable cabinet to quickly tuck away player’s cell phones. It saves them time by not having to open a lock.
