These lockers would replace a recently purchased wood locker that couldn’t hold up to the wear-and-tear of college athletes.
In 2018, the University of San Francisco and architecture design firm Gould Evans approached Shield about developing a locker to help their Division I WCC basketball teams compete nationally in the daily battle for recruits.
In 2015, the design team for MLS Sporting KC’s new training facility and KC-based sports design firm Populous contacted Shield about creating a stunning European-style solid surface locker for a world-class environment.

In 2014, Dimensional Innovations (DI) approached Shield about developing a stunning solid surface locker for the Charlotte Hornets that would redefine industry expectations of locker aesthetics, performance, and features.
