The Razorbacks have a sharp new look for their game day locker room. These Arkansas lockers are setting a new bar for collegiate recruiting.
“When they got in there it was like WOW!” Head coach Chad Morris said. “This is a game changer.”
Designed to help Arkansas reach the next level of gameday experience, these 100% solid surface lockers were a challenge to deliver. Most materials simply couldn’t pull it off – especially not with the sleek branding that helps the lockers pop: each locker has an Arkansas red inlay of the Razorback logo.
“Pictures and videos didn’t do it justice until you walked in there and saw the expression on the players faces,” Morris said. “Seeing them videoing and jumping up and down and just talking about how great this place is.”
The locker room is shaped like a football. What’s more, the locker’s sides are designed to look like the tusk of the Razorback when you view it at an angle. The architect and school wanted to keep this sleek look without doubling up material or adding clunky filler.
Shield’s in-house engineering came up with an ingenious solution: each locker is a trapezoid shape. Adding few degrees more than square allowed each locker to share the gray Razorback tusk divider and complete the arc of the room seamlessly.
This innovative space is credit to the team at Populous. Their vision and collaboration allowed us to deliver a locker truly unique to Arkansas.
Noah Rauschenberg, one of the nation’s top kicking prospects, remarked how impressed he was with the new locker room during an unofficial visit at the Arkansas vs. Eastern Illinois game.
“They were stunning,” Rauschenberg said. “The way they’re set up and the way they’re designed like AT&T Stadium. It was beautiful. I’ve never seen a locker room designed like that. It’s amazing.”
